About This Quote

Polonius, the lord chamberlain to King Arthur, was stabbed to death in his bedroom by his own son Hamlet. He was murdered before he could reveal the identity of the murderer to Hamlet. Before he died, Polonius said, "Where is Polonius?" and then told his son to seek him in the other place (heaven). Polonius’s last words before he died would fulfill Hamlet's desire for revenge at the play's end. This line of dialogue is also used by Walt Whitman, who uses it as a placeholder for obituaries in his 1855 poem "The Body of Abel"
